INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH

At Eastwind Community Church, we are committed to providing and helping people discover opportunities for expressing our faith in action. Every year Eastwind takes a mission trip to one of our two global missions locations: Mexico or Kenya

MEXICO

For over 15 years Eastwind has traveled to a small cardboard village just south of Ensenada on the Pacific coast of Baja California. The residents there are indigenous descendants of the Maya, and they live in deep poverty.

In past years, teams from the church have done projects designed to improve the quality of life for these people. These projects include building sanitary restroom facilities, providing running water to the community, improving housing, and most importantly, establishing and staffing a computer learning center for the education of the area's children.

AFRICA

Clean Water for Kenya!

We are committed to empowering the Burangi community in Kenya.. We have taken three teams of Eastwind members to the remote rural area in Burangi Kenya during the last 4 years. People living in this area experience extreme poverty, walk many miles each day to find unsafe water, and cannot access health care. We have partnered with Genesis World Mission and MAP International to work with the community in Burangi to facilitate clean water solutions, including rain catchment systems and water delivery systems, the building of a health care center and improved economic development . The Total Health Village concept is a holistic model that will enable this community to improve their overall health and bring THEMSELVES out of poverty. If you would like to make a financial contribution towards this effort, or learn more about our work in Burangi, contact tracy@genesisworldmission.org or visit the website, http://www.genesisworldmission.org

If you would like to go on our next trip to Kenya this August or are interested in our child sponsorship program, please contact the church office at 208-387-0818, or write to Carrie bean at boisebeans@aol.com

Sponser a Child's Education, and Change their World!

Eastwind has partnered with Touch Africa International in Nairobi, Kenya to help advance the education possibilities for children. Building on a partnership established during our first mission trip to Kenya in 2008, the two organizations have joined together to focus on an impoverished population near Kaloleni in Kenya. Education is a significant privilege for the less fortunate, vulnerable or orphaned children.

We started a child sponsorship program, to allow people like you the opportunity to provide funds for these children, so they can enjoy all the benefits of attending school. A monthly sponsorship will cover four basic needs; needs we too often take for granted: supervision by Touch Africa, private school fees and tuition, school uniforms and a lunch program. All of these children have one thing in common. Each wants to get an education and do something with his or her life despite the hardships faced. If this kind of sponsership program appeals to you, please see our current posting of children who are ready to be sponsored by CLICKING HERE.

Our Mission trip to Africa summer of 2011 was a big success. Below is a brief video snapshot...

Create Common Good

Create Common Good (CCG) provides training and employment to refugees and others in need. Our experiential programs transform lives and enrich communities. We build upon the generosity and creativity of our volunteers and partners…because we all have something to give.

Our core values all stem from a desire to embrace culture, accomplish good and positively shape community. We believe in the power of collaboration. We go the extra mile as a matter of course…and we strive to surprise at every turn. We just love to WOW.

We create transformative experiences for individuals and communities through our experiential job and language training programs for the refugee community and at-risk individuals. We offer hands-on, 'intensive care' training courses to unemployed refugees in our community. We also offer employment and further on-the-job training at our farm sites (GROW), within our manufacturing (CREATE), and within our culinary training and employment venture (STIR).

Eastwind at the Villas

Beginning mid-January of 2012 Eastwind will begin Eastwind at The Villas. The Villas, located on Parkcenter, is an independent living center for senior adults. We will be offering a worship service every Sunday at 10:30 am with a live music and ministry team and a video of the sermon being delivered at our main campus.

On one Sunday each May, we do not have regular services here at Eastwind. Instead, we go out into the community to participate in many different projects, from growing a garden for new immigrants, to cleaning up the river, to fishing with the mentally disabled. All of our projects are meaningful and exciting, and they are intended to help you experience what it means to BE the church, instead of just attending. All of the projects are family friendly, so the kids will be involved that day as well. (Nursery care will still be provided at church for the kids too small to part icipate.) WE WANT ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE TO BE INVOLVED!! Plan on being a part of this vibrant ministry, designed to help us BE THE CHURCH! Here's a video from our 1st Annual ?Church Without Walls Sunday. This year’s Church Without Walls event is Sunday, May 23, 2010 and we will all meet for a short service at the church at 9:30 am.

Get Involved Within Eastwind

Let Eastwind help put your faith in practice! We invite each person to serve in a ministry. Eastwind offers a class (201 in the Eastwind series) and a pastoral staff to help guide you through a process to plug you into the place of service that fits you best. Attending the 201 class or meeting with a member of the pastoral staff provides the best opportunity for you to find the right ministry fit.

Start by completing the Discover Your Ministry personal strengths survey. This is a survey that will help us match you to a ministry position. You can complete it online by clicking here or download a blank survey and then either attend the next 201 class or call the church office at 387-0818 to arrange an appointment with someone who can help you process your survey ...Learn More
